9 Reasons Why We Can't Live Without Our Cell Phones

This month we decided to do something different with our blog.  We all know cellphones makes our lives so much easier so we started thinking about all the reasons we can no longer live without them.  With all the things they can do with a plethora of technological advancements, it’s pretty easy to understand why we’ve become so attached to them.  Here is a short list of things we came up with. 

  

Breaking News! 

Breaking news alerts on your phone is now the norm.  News apps, the internet and social media provide regular updates on just about everything. Whether its happening across the globe or locally.  There is no need to wait to get the news at the end of the day when we get home from our local TV Station or from reading a newspaper. 

 

Listen To Music 

Apps like Spotify, Apple Music and Pandora with their large music libraries offer access to just about any type of music at any time or place. All of this without having to carry a large boom box or even a small walkman for those who remember those devices with their limited capabilities.  

 

Watch A Video 

Why stop with music? Don’t miss your favorite TV shows again. With Apps like YouTube, and Hulu you can stream your favorite videos and even download them to watch later even when a Wi-fi connection is not available. .

  

Dating 

Finding a life partner has gotten so much easier today with online dating websites and dating apps. With just your cell phone you can now meet someone without ever having to leave the comfort of your home. Millions have signed up and more are jumping on the bandwagon every day. Some of the most popular apps are Zoosk, eharmony, Match and Cupid to name a few.

  

Banking & Splitting the Check

Checking your balances, transferring funds and paying your bills can now be done from your cell phone. Need to split the check? Apps like Zelle, Venmo and many of the apps from some of the larger banking institutions are now offering this service. It has become so much easier to split the bill with friends at a large social outing. Those challenges of finding an ATM, getting change and even having to carry cash will soon be ancient history.

  

Mobile Wallet 

Went for a morning job and left your wallet at home? Now you can run a quick errand at the local store without carrying cash or a credit card. With many merchants now accepting Google, Samsung and Apple Pay, it’s a lot easier to make purchases just using your cellphone.

  

Ride Sharing 

Finding a ride at almost any time of the day has become a whole lot easier with ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft. From your cell phone you can schedule a pickup, track the driver’s location and route in real time and pay for the service. Unlike many local taxi service, ride sharing services are not limited to one area so you can go just about anywhere for a fee of course.

  

Road Trips

Long gone are the days of using a map and pulling over to get directions. Now you can enjoy turn by turn directions using your mobile phone navigation system. With apps like Waze, it’s a lot easier to get alerts for weather and traffic, avoid congestion and find gas stations or local rest stops in the area.

  

Encyclopedia 

Finding the answer to any question is as simple as saying “ok google” or using Google's online search engine to just “google it”.  When it comes to looking up information on almost every topic, It has become so much easier now that we can access the internet via our mobile devices.
